CROCIFISSIONE
Viviamo in tempi inquietanti.
La mia sensazione è che ci stiamo mettendo su una croce da soli senza renderci conto di troppi comportamenti e atteggiamenti non più sostenibili né dagli uomini né dal pianeta. Ho paura che la tecnologia possa sfuggire al controllo razionale dell'uomo e soprattutto che stia andando oltre le nostre reali necessità; enorme è il rischio che diventi complice di autarchie in continua crescita nelle nostre società; l'uomo nella fotografia quantunque icona di una tragedia biblica, pare sereno, rassicurato dalla tecnologia che stringe in pugno. Uso l'autoritratto per assumermi le mie responsabilità. Solo il nudo rimane a simboleggiare la nostra fragilità.
CRUCIFIXION
We live in disturbing times.
My feeling is that we are placing ourselves on a cross without realizing it, through too many behaviors and attitudes that are no longer sustainable by either humans or the planet. I fear that technology may slip out of humanity’s rational control and, above all, that it is going beyond our real needs; the risk is enormous that it may become complicit in the growing autocracies within our societies. The man in the photograph, though an icon of a biblical tragedy, appears serene, reassured by the technology he holds in his fist. I use the self-portrait to take responsibility for my actions. Only the naked body remains to symbolize our fragility.
CRUCIFIEMENT
Nous vivons des temps inquiétants.
Mon sentiment est que nous nous plaçons seuls sur une croix sans nous rendre compte des comportements et des attitudes qui ne sont plus soutenables ni par les hommes ni par la planète. J'ai peur que la technologie échappe au contrôle rationnel de l'homme et, surtout, qu'elle dépasse nos réelles nécessités ; le risque est énorme qu'elle devienne complice des autocraties en constante croissance dans nos sociétés. L'homme dans la photographie, bien qu'icône d'une tragédie biblique, semble serein, rassuré par la technologie qu'il tient dans sa main. J'utilise l'autoportrait pour assumer mes responsabilités. Seul le nu reste pour symboliser notre fragilité.
